Stop bass drum creep and keep your setup where you place it. JK Hooves anchor bass drum spurs, pedal bases and other hardware contact points to a compatible drum rug, so your kit stays stable from soundcheck to encore. Choose from 2, 4 or 16 Hooves depending on how many positions you want to secure.

Product description

JK Hooves: modular bass drum anchors for a repeatable setup

JK Hooves help keep your bass drum, pedals and drum hardware in a defined position while you play. Each Hoove captures a floor contact point, such as a bass drum spur, pedal base, stand foot or rack leg and attaches to a tight-knit, Velcro-compatible drum rug.

Instead of pressing against the bass drum hoop, JK Hooves secure the points where your hardware meets the rug. This makes them useful for more than bass drum creep alone. You can create a repeatable position map for the parts of your kit that move during playing, transport or setup.

If your bass drum keeps sliding forward, start by reading our guide on how to stop your bass drum from sliding. For a broader explanation of the problem, see what causes bass drum creep.

Choose the right JK Hooves pack

Choose the pack based on the number of floor contact points you want to define:

  • 2-Pack: designed as a starting point for the two bass drum spurs.
  • 4-Pack: suitable when you also want to secure a pedal base, stand foot or another moving contact point.
  • 16-Pack: made for larger kits, touring rigs, backline setups and repeatable hardware layouts.

You do not need to anchor every piece of hardware. Start with the points that move most, then add Hooves where they make a practical difference.

For a wider comparison of bass drum anchor systems, read the kick drum anchor guide.

How JK Hooves work

Place the Hooves on your compatible drum rug where you want your hardware to sit. Position the bass drum, pedal or stand, then press the Hooves firmly into the rug. The hook fastener on the underside grips the rug surface and helps keep the mapped contact point in place.

For the most consistent results:

  1. Use a tight-knit, Velcro-compatible drum rug.
  2. Position the bass drum spurs before securing the surrounding hardware.
  3. Test the setup with your normal playing intensity.
  4. Add Hooves only where movement continues.
  5. Leave the Hooves in position if you want to recreate the same setup later.

Read how a drum rug with a bass drum stopper works if you are comparing different approaches to keeping your kit stable.

More than a bass drum anchor

JK Hooves can be used to define the position of:

  • bass drum spurs;
  • single or double pedal bases;
  • hi-hat stands;
  • cymbal stand feet;
  • floor tom legs;
  • rack legs;
  • other compatible hardware contact points.

To secure a hi-hat stand, see how to stop a hi-hat stand from sliding. For moving pedals, see how to stop a drum pedal from sliding.

Compatibility

JK Hooves are designed for tight-knit, Velcro-compatible drum rugs or carpet systems. They are not intended to attach directly to bare wood, concrete, polished floors or smooth stage surfaces.

The rug itself also needs to remain stable on the floor. If the rug moves as a whole, JK Hooves may not solve the rug-to-floor movement. In that case, address the rug surface and the contact points separately.

JK Hooves are not a traditional hoop-bracing stopper. If you are comparing them with a KickBlock-style product, read our KickBlock alternative guide.

Handmade in the Netherlands

JK Hooves are handmade in the Netherlands and designed for drummers, backliners and drum techs who need a setup they can reproduce quickly. Define the important positions once, then return your kit to the same footprint at the next rehearsal, soundcheck or show.

What drum hardware is compatible with JK Hooves?
JK Hooves are compatible with drum hardware from all major brands, including bass drum spurs, single and double kick pedals, hi-hat stands, cymbal stands, floor tom legs, rack legs and other hardware contact points. The 90-degree opening allows JK Hooves to lock around a wide range of hardware profiles.
Does it work on smooth stages without carpet?
No. They work on drum rugs, carpets and other surfaces that securely grip the hook-side Velcro® on the underside of the Hooves.
Will it damage my hardware?
No. There are no adhesives and no permanent modifications. Remove the product and your hardware remains unchanged.
How many do I need?
Use one hoof per contact point with the floor. Most bass drums need two to four spurs. Add extra units for floor tom legs or a hi-hat stand.
How long do they last?
They are built for heavy use and touring. The grip mechanism is designed to last significantly longer than common hook-and-loop solutions.
Do JK Hooves work with double pedals?
Yes. The 90-degree opening allows JK Hooves to lock around single and double kick pedal setups. Position the Hoove around the relevant pedal and press it firmly onto a compatible drum rug or plate surface.
Do JK Hooves work with rack legs?
Yes. The 90-degree opening allows JK Hooves to lock around rack legs and similar hardware profiles.
